A toughened, versatile, liquid epoxy for permanent waterproof bonding of fiberglass, ceramics, metals, plastics, damp and difficult-to-bond woods. With a modulus of elasticity of 150,000 PSI, it is a bit more flexible than standard epoxies and polyester, but much stiffer than adhesive sealants. This gives G/flex the ability to make structural bonds that can absorb the stress of expansion, contraction, shock and vibration. It is ideal for bonding dissimilar materials. It can be modified with West System fillers and additives, and used to wet-out fiberglass tapes and fabrics. Mixed at a 1:1 ratio, G/flex gives you 45 minutes of working time at room temperature. It reaches an initial cure in 7 to 10 hrs and full cure in 24 hrs.

206 Slow Hardener® is a low-viscosity epoxy curing agent for use when extended working and cure time is needed or to provide adequate working time at higher temperatures. When combined with 105 Resin in a five-part resin to one-part hardener ratio, the cured resin/hardener mixture yields a rigid, high-strength, moisture-resistant solid with excellent bonding and coating properties. Not intended for clear coating.

Pot life at 72°F (22°C): 20 to 25 minutes
Cure to a solid state: 10 to 15 hours
Cure to maximum strength: 1 to 4 days
Minimum recommended temperature: 60°F (16°C)

207 Special Clear Hardener™ was developed for coating and fiberglass cloth application where an exceptionally clear, moisture-resistant, natural wood finish is desired. 207 Hardener will not blush or turn cloudy in humid conditions. Thin film applications roll out and tip off smoothly, requiring less sanding in preparation for finish coatings.

Professional and first-time builders like 207 because it is reliable and easy to use. Three coats or more can be applied in one day without additional surface preparation. Fewer coats are required to fill fiberglass weave and in most cases the final coating can be sandd the following day. Boats can be built faster. Builders also appreciate the excellent fiberglass wet-out characteristics achieved with 105/207, yet it won't drain from vertical surfaces like the very slow curing, low-viscosity epoxies.

105/207 has strong physical properties, so it can be used as a structural adhesive for gluing and l aminating. It has excellent compatibility with paints and varnishes. An ultraviolet inhibitor in 207 helps provide a beautiful, long lasting finish when used with quality UV filtering varnish. 105/207 cures clear and colorless.

406 Colloidal Silica is a thickening additive used to control the viscosity of the epoxy and prevent epoxy runoff in vertical and overhead joints. 406 is a very strong filler that creates a smooth mixture, ideal for general bonding and filleting. It is also our most versatile filler. Often used in combination with other fillers, it can be used to improve strength, abrasion resistance, and consistency of fairing compounds, resulting in a tougher, smoother surface.

WEST SYSTEM pigments are epoxy-based liquid colorants used to tint the epoxy mixture to provide an even color base for the final finish system. The colored surfaces also tend to highlight flaws and imperfections. Cured, pigmented epoxy surfaces are not a final finish surface, but require an additional opaque or UV filter coating for ultraviolet protection. Add to the mixed resin/hardener at a rate of approximately one teaspoon of pigment to 8 fl oz of epoxy. More pigment will increase opaqueness and mixture viscosity. One 4 fl oz bottle will tint approximately 2/3 gal of epoxy.

Woven fabric tapes are electrical grade fiberglass that come in various widths: 729 (2"), 731 (3"), 732 (4”) and 733 (6"). They weigh 9 oz per square yard. These woven tapes have a selvaged edge that prevents fraying. Tapes are ideal to toughen and protect corners as well as for a myriad of other applications.

727 Biaxial Tape is 4" wide, 15 oz (per square yard) electrical grade fiberglass referred to as E glass. Biaxial is essentially two layers of unidirectional fiberglass placed 45° to the ‘0’ axis off the roll. The layers are held together with a light stitching, thus it is referred to as a stitched tape. It should not be confused with braid, which is woven. Biaxial has good utility as the strands are oriented to allow the tape to pass over a tighter corner. Biaxial is generally stronger on a per thickness basis than a woven fabric. 727 is .018" per tow in thickness and has a specific gravity of 2.54. Woven tape has half its fibers taking the full brunt of the bend whereas with biaxial they pass as a more gradual 45° angle. However, Biaxial materials will take more filling with resin or fillers to finish smooth.

702 and 703 Unidirectional Carbon Tapes are designed to be used with WEST SYSTEM Brand epoxy. The hardener choice is dependent on laminate thickness (dimensionally), the time required to perform the operation, and ambient temperature when cure will take place.

702 and 703 carbon fibers are in tow form. A tow is like a ribbon. The tow of this material consists of 12,000 fiber bundles per inch of width, so it is referred to as 12K material. The tow is continuous, and unidirectional on the ‘0’ axis (along the tow length). The fibers are not twisted or woven. The white strands running on the 90 (degree) axis are polyester threads that hold the fiber bundles in place and are non-structural. This 12K material is on the order of 11 oz (per square yard) material and measures .025" thick. Carbon fibers are electrically conductive and have a specific gravity of 1.75.

Fabrics are ideal for building composite laminates and repairing fiberglass structures. May also be used to provide an abrasion-resistant covering for wooden structures. When wet-out, the 4 and 6 oz. fabrics become transparent, allowing a clear, natural wood finish. May be painted or varnished.
